This $98 bathrobe is truly the best one out there here's why
- Snowe's $98 unisex bathrobe has been called the best and most absorbent terry robe on the market. The company traps each cotton fiber with air for extra absorbency.
- I've been using it personally for the last month, and I agree that Snowe's bathrobe is the best option out there.
- The Snowe robe is more absorbent than the towels I own and is impressively soft.
- For $98, it's also about what we would expect to pay for a premium bathrobe, and is worth every penny.
If you don't remember a parent wrapping you up in a cute but undeniably wet and cloying fleece robe as a child, let me do my best to impart the experience upon you: It's uncomfortable. The robe — which should be absorbent and quick-drying if it's going to act as a towel you wear on purpose — is light and fluffy when dry and none of those things when introduced to water.
So when my drafty, cold apartment made leaving the shower a uniquely horrible experience this winter, I decided it was time to throw out the robe I had and invest in a really luxurious bathrobe — the kind you might find in a hotel room — and it needed to have fast and efficient water absorbency as a key factor.
After a lot of research, it came down to Parachute's $99 Classic Bathrobe and Snowe's $98 Bathrobe. Both were made from 100% long-staple cotton, were full-length, had gotten rave reviews, and were about the price range I was willing to spend. Parachute offered more colors (White and Stone grey), but ultimately I decided to throw my lot in with Snowe's Bathrobe, since The Wirecutter recently dubbed it the clear winner in the post-shower category, saying "it wicks away more moisture after a shower than any other pick, but it's also comfy for lounging." It was $1 less, came with free shipping, and checked all my boxes.
Manufactured with their partner in Portugal, Snowe's robe (like all their bath linens) is created with an innovative technology that bumps up absorbency; Each cotton fiber is trapped with air, resulting in greater space between the fibers, which translates into added volume and extra absorbency. Snowe claims their towels lose up to 4x less fiber than regular towels.
The Snowe robe only comes in unisex sizing, so it's a little big on me, but that's certainly not something that I mind. The material is so impossibly fluffy and absorbent that I wish there was more of it if anything. Its superior moisture-wicking ability and warmth mean that I have been able to stop dreading the hour after each shower and instead just the few seconds between the steam and the robe. It dries quicker than the towels I own, and it's ridiculously comfortable to lounge around in on weekend mornings. Its pockets also solve a common complaint I have with bathrobes.
There have been more than a few nights (way more than a few) where I have come home from a long day, showered, put on the Snowe robe, and told myself that I would only wear it for one or two Netflix episodes. Eight hours later, I wake up in it. It's only been about a month, but it's quickly becoming one of my favorite fixtures of home. I'm still excited to use it.
Like the rest of Snowe's linens, this bathrobe is hypoallergenic, lightweight (relatively), quick-drying, and soft. There's a built-in loop for hanging, and that's basically it. It doesn't pair with Bluetooth or pre-heat your oven for you, but it is the best bathrobe I've found (and I'm not the only one saying so). Thanks to the air-woven, long-staple cotton it's better at absorbing water than the towels I own, and its unisex sizing and simple design means it's constantly comfortable — like being enveloped in a cloud.
If you don't love it, you have 90 days to tell Snowe and they'll either replace or refund you. It's not exactly a cheap investment at $98, but it's much, much better than spending any part of your life dreading getting out of the shower.
It's definitely better than being wrapped burrito-style in fleece after a swim meet.
If you're looking for a new bathrobe that performs just as well post-shower in winter as for cooking eggs and lounging on a Sunday morning, I really recommend taking a look at Snowe's. You won't be disappointed.
